About us

Non-stop defense was established in 2021 to provide the Norwegian Armed Forces with dog equipment and arctic clothing. It has its origins in Non-stop dogwear, a company that develops, produces and sells performance gear for active dogs and humans worldwide.

It started with a phone call from K9 operator Per Kristian Bruun to Non-stop dogwear. He was already using some of Non-stop dogwear’s products in his free time with his hunting dogs.

Bruun says, “I knew they made ergonomic and functional dog gear of outstanding quality. When the Norwegian Armed Forces needed dog jackets, I reached out to ask if Non-stop dogwear could produce a special edition for us. I was blown away by the positivity I was met with and the willingness to adapt existing products to our needs."

The cooperation developed from there. Soon, a wide range of dog gear and arctic clothing for humans were included. Today, Non-stop defense delivers K9 gear and arctic clothing to professional clients in multiple countries.

The production process

We have more than 10 years of experience with developing dog gear and extreme arctic clothing. Functionality, quality and freedom of movement is key in everything we do.

Since 2009, a creative and dedicated team have turned ideas into reality from our Headquarters in Brøttum, Norway. Nothing is left to chance when developing the gear of the future.

The product development process is continuous. To us, a product is never finished. There is always room for improvement and innovation. That’s why the close cooperation we have with professional clients is essential. You know first-hand what your needs are and together we can develop the best gear possible.

First-hand experience

In arctic conditions, you rely on your equipment. It can mean the difference between life and death. We have first-hand experience with the importance of functional, ergonomic and durable gear.

A harness that chafes, restricts the dog or breaks in a blizzard is not an option when you are miles away from civilization in freezing temperatures. The same goes for clothing.

One of the reasons our cooperation with the army, police and working dogs has been successful is that you have the same needs as dog mushers. You operate under the same weather conditions. You must be able to move freely. You need protection from the cold when lying or standing still while also having the possibility to adjust temperature when suddenly being on the move. The gear must be durable in order to withstand the rough use you put it through and equipped with the functional features you need – nothing more. Regardless of the work, a dog and its handler operate as a team. Your K9 is an important resource and deserves to be treated as such by having the best gear available to carry out its job.

The people behind the company

Together with Non-stop dogwear, which was found in 2009, and Per Kristian Bruun it was decided to specialize in gear for working dogs and human clothing for missions in cold weather.

Bruun, CEO of Non-stop defense, comes from a 15 year career as a K9 handler in the Norwegian Armed Forces.

Bruun says, “As a K9 handler you have a huge responsibility for your dog but also for your colleagues. Their lives depend on decisions made by you and your K9. That’s why it’s important that you do what’s needed to perform. My passion is to maximize the resource that a K9 is by preparing them well and using the right gear at the right time. A fit and well equipped K9 has an enormous capacity. A K9 in good physical condition will be able to search for a longer time, and by doing something as simple as putting on dog booties, your K9 can be operative in a much wider range of temperatures and surfaces. Also, a human wearing warm clothing, performs better in extreme weather conditions.”
